CERTIFICATION OF RAILWAY SYSTEMS & SIGNALING/CCS ACCORDING TO CENELEC EN 5012X
Meeting the rail sector’s safety requirements.
The Challenge for Railway Control-Command Equipment
Implementing CENELEC* standards EN 50126, EN 50128 and EN 50129 is mandatory for all suppliers of railway control-command equipment. These European standards are now applied worldwide in the rail sector.
Certified manufacturers can:
- be sure that their system is developed with complete safety;
- validate that their system meets the applicable safety requirements.

FAQ - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why do projects require CENELEC 50 12x certification/evaluation?
CENELEC 50 12x evaluators act as an independent entity for the project and safety engineering team. By leading the assessment activities, evaluation and certification attests that safety risks are correctly managed, safety levels are achieved and assures safety authorities of its system operations.
What part of the project is CENELEC 50 12x certification/evaluation involved?
CENELEC 50 12x certification/evaluation must start at the beginning of the project. Evaluation covers the life cycle of the project (V cycle) from concept design, detailed design, integration tests & validation all the way to operation & maintenance.
Can I certify/evaluate for an SIL Level?
Yes, evaluators can perform a CENELEC 50 12x evaluation/certification in order to certify that an SIL Level (SIL 0 to SIL 4) is achieved by a system, sub-system or product.
